Tiger New Year Celebration

2010-01-13. Welcome to celebrate the Chinese/Vietnamese New Year at Hyllie Park, as we change into the year of the tiger!

The Chinese/Vietnamese New Year Celebration , also called the Spring Festival, is the largest and most important festival during the year in East- and South East Asia, often compared to Christmas in Western countries.

In the traditional calender, each year is symbolized by an animal, all in all twelve in number. In 2010, we will go from the year of the Ox to the year of the Tiger!

The festivities in Hyllie Park will include: [Ojzaioj] The traditional Vietnamese band from Sweden will play traditional Vietnamese music and perform a lion dance, Chinese and Vietnamese friends will show papercut, tell stories, make traditional Chinese dumplings to eat and play games with the children.

The whole celebration will end with sending paper lanterns (lyktor) to the sky for good fortune and best wishes to people in all countries!

You are welcome to celebrate this big day together with among others TCG Nordica Stage Manager Nina Cheng and Yuki, both from Kunming, China, and Helena Jönsson from Hyllie Park Culture School, also a part of the band [Ojzaioj].
